DIGITRACE – Digital traceability and compliance for sustainable SMES

Implementation period

01.12.2025 - 30.11.2028

Project objective

The project aims to foster collaboration between educational institutions, vocational training providers, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to ensure that workers have the skills and knowledge necessary to implement and innovate in line with the EU’s Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements. By developing industry-specific curricula, developing work-based learning, and promoting innovation in digital sustainability practices, the project aims to bridge the gap between the DPP’s regulatory requirements and the digital competencies of SMEs. This initiative aims to support SMEs in meeting DPP requirements while enabling them to take a leading role in sustainable product management and building transparent supply chains, creating new market opportunities for green and digitally advanced businesses.

Target groups

  • Employees of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with competencies in digital tools, product traceability, and sustainable development practices.
  • Employers (SMEs) and management staff interested in adapting their business profiles to the requirements of the DPP and taking advantage of new market opportunities.
  • Higher education institutions (HEIs), responsible for creating innovative, interdisciplinary curricula related to the DPP.
  • Vocational education institutions (VET), providing practical, industry-specific training related to the DPP, both as part of initial education and in continuing professional development.”

Project results

  • The development and provision of tailored educational materials that meet the regulatory and technical requirements of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) in the micro-certificates format, available to SMEs in 5 countries and 5 languages.
  • Establishing partnerships enabling practical learning, which will allow students and SMEs to work together on implementing the DPP and meeting its requirements.
  • Supporting the development of innovative digital tools and platforms that enhance transparency and the sustainability of product lifecycle management.
  • Promoting sector-specific training and support for SMEs, enabling them to adapt their operations to the requirements of the DPP.
  • Empowering SMEs by enabling them to capitalise on new business opportunities in the field of sustainable product management.
  • Establishing a central knowledge hub integrating training, tools and collaboration spaces, providing continuous access to resources for educators, SMEs and other stakeholders regarding the implementation and innovation of the DPP.
