Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Szeptycki, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, was a guest of WSEI University on Thursday.
The meeting between the University authorities, representatives of the City of Lublin, and the Deputy Minister was an opportunity to present the University’s activities, its study programmes, infrastructure, socio-economic partnerships, international cooperation, as well as achievements in teaching and plans for further development of its educational offer. It was also a chance to discuss Lublin itself and its academic character.
- For over 25 years, we have focused on practical education to prepare our students for a smooth transition into the labour market immediately after graduation. All programmes introduced into our offer respond to current or anticipated labour market needs. Nothing is accidental here – it is a deliberate process based on consultations with the socio-economic environment and observation of changing trends. Our offer is innovative, because innovation is in the DNA of our University - emphasized Teresa Bogacka, PhD h.c., President of WSEI University.
Mariusz Banach, Deputy Mayor of Lublin for Education, highlighted that the quality offered by WSEI University is crucial for the academic development of the city: - Lublin has included academic excellence in its development strategy, making it a driving force for the city. Therefore, cooperation with the University is very important for Lublin – the more WSEI University develops, the more Lublin develops.
Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki, thanking for the invitation, emphasized the role of regional universities: - Regional universities play a very important role at the local and regional levels, and their educational offer is a key element in retaining young people in the country so that they do not have to go abroad. We want these regional centres to be as strong as possible. It is also important that education and research conducted at universities have a practical character, and that patents registered by universities do not end up forgotten in drawers - concluded Prof. Andrzej Szeptycki.
We thank you for this meeting and for the important discussion on science and higher education.
