About Event

This year’s edition of the conference combines scientific objectives with the exchange of professional experience and is focused on three main areas which—although closely interrelated—often operate according to different logics of action:

  • Professional school-based prevention as the core of preventive efforts
This area addresses the role of the school as a key environment for the implementation of preventive tasks resulting from binding legal regulations and formal frameworks. In this perspective, prevention is grounded in a reliable diagnosis of needs, evidence-based planning of interventions, awareness of the complexity of problems, and the professionalism of both decision-makers and practitioners.
  • The peripheries of school prevention – incidental and intervention-based activities
The second area involves reflection on a broad spectrum of preventive activities that are not always planned or systemic and often emerge as responses to emerging problems or single incidents. We aim to examine how such “peripheral” actions fit within school-based prevention, what purposes they serve, and what limitations they entail.
  • Prevention as a “remedy” for dysfunctionality and the retreat from upbringing
The third area adopts a critical perspective on prevention understood as a remedy for educational neglect, relational deficits, and the difficulties experienced by those responsible for raising and supporting young people. In this view, prevention fulfills a compensatory function, responding to the inefficiency of family, educational, and local community environments.

Within these broadly defined objectives, we invite discussion on the quality of needs assessments related to educational and preventive activities, the effectiveness of preventive interventions, and their grounding in scientific evidence. We also encourage reflection on current threats to adolescent development and health, as well as ways of responding to them, such as the high proportion of students experiencing mental health crises, the growing number of students requiring psychiatric care, problems of overweight and obesity, and risks associated with the uncontrolled use of digital technologies. The conference will also provide space for discussion on the process of upbringing, as well as the roles and functioning of significant others who support young people.

The first conference session will be devoted to the conferral of the title and the Master of Psychology Lecture.

As usual, the conference will be interdisciplinary in nature. We invite researchers and practitioners in the fields of psychology, education, health sciences, sociology, pastoral care, philosophy, law, medicine, etc. to participate.
