“Curiosity – vis vitalis of science” is the motto of this year’s Lublin Festival of Science, co-organised by WSEI University. We invite you to join us in discovering the world of science, new technologies and fascinating ideas.
The 22nd Lublin Festival of Science will take place from 19 to 25 September. Participants can look forward to exciting experiments, meetings, hands-on activities and inspiring knowledge.
Science Picnic – 20 September
On Sunday, 20 September, we invite everyone to join the Science Picnic at Litewski Square, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Students of Pedagogy and will invite visitors into a world where curiosity is the beginning of discovery.
Three activity stations will be waiting for participants. At the first one, they will find out where the gas produced in the reaction between vinegar and baking soda comes from and whether it can inflate a balloon on its own. At the second station, participants will set colours in motion, observe how detergent works and discover why some liquids do not mix. At the third station, they will explore the unusual properties of a non-Newtonian fluid with their own hands. The final experiment, “What Can Soap Do?”, will provide an introduction to a discussion about surface tension and hygiene.
And that is not all. Lecturers and students of Sports Science & Coaching have prepared a reaction speed test, body composition analysis and muscle strength measurement. Each participant will receive a brief interpretation of their results, together with practical advice on health and physical activity.
Students and lecturers of Physiotherapy will also be there. Visitors will have the opportunity to test their physical fitness on a cycle ergometer, take part in demonstrations of classical massage and kinesiotaping, and have their balance assessed.
Our secondary schools will also join us – WSEI Academic Sports Championship High School and WSEI High School. Coaches, together with students, will conduct open football and basketball sessions featuring coordination exercises, technical skills and movement games for children and young people.
Science that takes us into space
As part of the Lublin Festival of Science, Dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Rymarczyk, Professor at WSEI University, a scientist and expert in new technologies, artificial intelligence and computer science, will give a lecture entitled “Science in the Service of Health – From a Computer Model to a Space Mission.”
For years, mathematics and computer models have supported people in carrying out ambitious projects – including those reaching beyond our planet. During the lecture, we will discover how algorithms, engineering and digital technologies help solve problems that until recently seemed impossible.
The lecture will begin on 20 September at 3:30 p.m.
