The future of business, technology and education at the 7th International Scientific Conference of the WSEI University

Janów Lubelski became the venue for inspiring discussions on the future of business, education and technology. The 17th International Scientific Conference, held under the theme “Entrepreneurship in the era of digital transformation and AI: people, innovation and higher education”, took place there over three days. The event was organised by WSEI University.

The event spanned three days (20–22 May) and featured a programme packed with inspiring lectures, debates and expert panels. Leading specialists from Poland and abroad examined the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy, the development of innovation and the skills of the future.

The conference’s key topics included:

  • Innovation and new business models – discussions on the valuation of Big Tech companies, the digital transformation of capital markets, and the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence development.
  • Artificial intelligence in practice – from the e-commerce revolution, through legal challenges and the fight against deepfakes, to the implementation of the AI Act.
  • Higher education of the future – how universities can effectively transfer knowledge to the economy and educate leaders for the digital age.
  • Humans in a world of algorithms – a panel on mental resilience, the challenges facing Generation Z, and the phenomenon of digital stress.

Conference participants had the opportunity to attend lectures, expert panels and discussions on topics including new business models, the digital transformation of markets, legal challenges related to artificial intelligence, and the future of higher education. Discussions about humanity in a world of algorithms – mental resilience, digital stress and the challenges facing Generation Z – were also a key part of the conference.

The programme also covered the practical aspects of running a business. On the second day of the conference, participants visited Legrano, a producer of groats, where they were able to see how modern solutions are utilised in the company’s operations.

The event culminated in a third plenary session devoted to the psychological and social dimensions of technological development. The session was moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy, PhD Małgorzata Artymiak, Professor at  WSEI University.

As emphasised by the Dean of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences, PhD Sylwia Skrzypek-Ahmed, Professor at WSEI University, the modern world is at a turning point where artificial intelligence is already influencing not only technology, but also organisational management, public administration, the labour market, education and social relations: - As an academic community, we have a duty not only to respond to change, but also to actively shape it. Our role is to prepare students to function in a world where digital skills, critical thinking, technological ethics and interdisciplinarity form the foundation of modern society and the economy – she says.

The event served as a forum for the exchange of knowledge, relationship-building and cooperation between the academic community, the business sector and the public sector.

The conference, which took place at the Rezydencja Sosnowa Hotel in Janów Lubelski, was organised by our University’s Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences, which has for years been developing international and cross-sectoral cooperation, combining academia with business practice and public administration.

This year’s edition of the event demonstrated the importance of dialogue between academia and business practice in an era of dynamic technological change.

The conference was held under the honorary patronage of: the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship, the Governor of Lublin, the Mayor of Lublin and the Municipality of Janów Lubelski.
