Transversal BIM Knowledge for Higher Education

Implementation period

15.06.2021 - 14.06.2023

Project objective

Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology – Digital Construction – represents a holistic process of creating and managing information about an asset. It is based on an intelligent model that, in the cloud, integrates structured multi‑disciplinary data and enables the creation of digital presentations of the asset – from its design and construction through to its operation (Source: https://www.autodesk.pl/solutions/bim).

The aim of the project is to introduce BIM technology into study programmes not related to construction, including areas such as human resource management, financial management, etc., and thereby increase the competitiveness of graduates of these fields on the labour market.

Target groups

  • Higher education institutions interested in diversifying and implementing interdisciplinary technologies into their teaching programmes.
  • Lecturers who will acquire new knowledge in the field of BIM and will pass it on to their students.
  • Students who will acquire knowledge in the field of BIM and will increase their competitiveness on the continuously changing labour market.

Project results

  • Analysis of the current implementation of BIM technology into the teaching programmes of higher education institutions.
  • Development of a plan for the implementation of BIM into various bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study programmes not related to construction, based on the results of the analysis from the first result.
  • Development of a BIM‑introductory course syllabus that can be run in many different fields and study programmes.
