Green Travel

Participants planning to take part in the Erasmus+ program and traveling using low-emission or eco-friendly means of transport may apply for a one-time travel grant (so-called Green Travel).

According to the European Commission guidelines, the following modes of transport are considered eco-friendly: train, bus, bicycle, carpooling, i.e., sharing a car journey with at least two people on the same route and for the same purpose. Air travel is not considered Green Travel.

Mobility participants  traveling using low-emission transport may also apply for an additional travel days allowance (minimum 2 days, maximum 4 days). This additional allowance can only be granted if the participant uses low-emission transport for the entire journey.

Application before mobility

Participants planning to travel by eco-friendly means (both students and staff) are required to submit a Green Travel funding application before the start of the mobility. The application serves as the basis for granting additional financial support and must be approved by the sending institution prior to departure.

Declaration after mobility

After returning from mobility, participants (students or staff) are required to submit a declaration confirming that the journey was made using eco-friendly transport.

In case of travel by:

  • train or bus – copies of tickets for both outbound and return trips must be attached,
  • car (carpooling) – copies of fuel receipts and a signed declaration of shared travel must be attached.

Templates for the application and declarations are included in the attachments.
