Dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Rymarczyk, Professor at WSEI University, Director of the Doctoral School and the Institute of Computer Science and Innovative Technologies, has once again been included in the prestigious list of the world’s leading researchers. What is more, he is the only scientist from a non-public university in the region to achieve this recognition.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025 ranking of the most influential scientists worldwide is compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and the analytical company SciTech Strategies.
The list evaluates the entire scientific output of researchers based on an advanced bibliometric index, taking into account criteria such as the Hirsch index, the number of citations (including self-citations), as well as authorship position and role in publications. Inclusion in this ranking reflects a significant global impact on the development of science.
Prof. Tomasz Rymarczyk has been recognised in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025 ranking as the only scholar from a non-public higher education institution in the region. He has been distinguished both in the category assessing lifetime scientific achievements and in the category covering contributions from the past year.
His work has been acknowledged in two dynamically developing international research fields: Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing, as well as Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
It is worth noting that Prof. Rymarczyk has been continuously classified among the elite group of the world’s top 2% scientists since 2019.
The wide scope of Prof. Rymarczyk’s research interests includes artificial intelligence, industrial and medical tomography, segmentation and analysis of medical images, machine learning, data mining and optimisation systems, intelligent manufacturing systems, Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, and Big Data.
– This distinction is a recognition of Prof. Rymarczyk’s scientific achievements and the international significance of his work, while also confirming the standing of Lublin’s WSEI University on the global stage as an institution enabling research excellence – emphasises Teresa Bogacka, President of WSEI University.
What is the recipe for success? – The key to being among the world’s leading scientists is the consistent pursuit of scientific development, building research teams, publishing results in highly ranked, peer-reviewed international journals, and addressing current and relevant research challenges within specific disciplines. Maintaining a high position in the ranking also relies on successful acquisition of R&D projects, the development of innovative technologies, and active engagement in the international scientific community – explains Prof. Rymarczyk.
