A Remarkable Success for a PhD Student from WSEI University

Dominik Gnaś, a PhD student at WSEI University, has been selected for the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s “Implementation Doctorate 2024” program.

This program offers young researchers the opportunity to combine scientific research with the implementation of innovative solutions in an industrial environment.

The subject of Dominik Gnaś’s doctoral dissertation is the development of a modern, non-invasive system for continuous blood glucose monitoring using impedance spectroscopy. This solution has the potential to revolutionize diabetes care by offering patients a convenient and painless tool for daily health monitoring.

The young scientist is conducting his research at the Netrix S.A. Research and Development Center, led by Dr. hab. inż. Tomasz Rymarczyk, Professor at WSEI University, Director of the Institute of Computer Science and Innovative Technologies, and Head of the Doctoral School at WSEI University in Lublin.

“Our goal is to create an accessible technology that allows people with diabetes and other chronic illnesses to monitor their health comfortably and effectively – non-invasively, painlessly, and in real time,” emphasizes Dominik Gnaś.

Dominik Gnaś is contributing to the development of an advanced medical device combining impedance spectroscopy (ETSI) and modern optical sensing technologies. The innovative solution he is working on enables not only blood glucose measurement without the need for finger pricks but also the monitoring of other vital parameters – heart rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, and blood pressure.

The project involves both intensive research – such as modeling, laboratory and clinical testing – and practical activities, including prototype construction, certification, and preparation for production. The goal of the endeavor is to create a portable, safe, and user-friendly diagnostic device that will allow patients to manage their condition more effectively from the comfort of their homes.

Participation in the “Implementation Doctorate” program is not only a distinction for Dominik Gnaś but also a significant step forward in the development of modern medical technologies in Poland and internationally.

Congratulations and best wishes for continued success!
