138 participants, 48 hours of creative work and 22 game projects – this is how the 12th edition of LubJam 2026 – Game Marathon, which once again took place at the WSEI University, can be summarised. It was an explosion of creativity!
- The computer games market is a dynamically changing market, and over 50 per cent of its participants are women, so there is equality here,’ said PhD Mariusz Paździor, Professor at WSEI University,Vice-Rector for Education and Student Affairs, who welcomed all participants on Friday evening on behalf of the University Authorities - I wish you all passion, commitment, competitiveness and the creation of games that will satisfy you.
This year's edition of the Game Marathon – LubJam 2026, organised by WSEI University in cooperation with the Lublin GameDev Foundation, attracted 138 participants from all over Poland, as well as guests from abroad. The event took place at our University from 30 January to 1 February.
- LubJam is a 48-hour game development marathon and a great opportunity to unleash your creativity. If you are interested in the game development process, events like this are a great place to gain experience and network with people who are also passionate about this topic, says Patryk Gałach, President of the Lublin GameDev Foundation.
One of the participants of LubJam 2026 was Jakub, a student at UMCS. He worked on the game project in a team of 10 people: - Practically all of us are UMCS students, and most of us are participating in LubJam for the second time. It's a great initiative. If we want to do something in the game development industry in the future, there is no better place than Jam to see what it's like. In 48 hours, you can go through the entire cycle of creating a game. You can come up with a cool idea and then develop it in the long term, or meet other enthusiasts and strengthen cooperation on a cool project. I really recommend it to everyone!
This year's theme for the projects was ‘masks’.
Marcin from Lublin created a game in which you have to avoid obstacles – to do this, you have to camouflage yourself with colour, like a chameleon: - My game is styled after old games from the 1980s, and its difficulty level is high,’ he says. ‘This is my sixth or seventh time at such an event. It's amazing entertainment to come, build something and see what cool things others have done. The level of creativity is also incredible. The theme is the same for all of us, but its implementation varies depending on how we approach it.
The current edition of LubJam at the WSEI University has revealed new talents in the game development industry, notes PhD Eng. Michalina Gryniewicz-Jaworska, Professor at WSEI University and Dean of the Faculty of Transport Computer Science. She adds: - This event fits perfectly into our University's strategy because it brings together enthusiasts, creators and games, and thus our potential students of the ’Computer Game Development and Interactive Technologies" programme. It is an excellent opportunity to transfer the knowledge gained during game development marathons later on during studies at WSEI University.
