Prof. dr hab. Maria Ryś from Vizja University in Warsaw was awarded the title, dignity, and rights of Honorary Professor of WSEI University in Lublin. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, June 3, at WSEI University.

– Looking at Professor’s scientific achievements, one cannot help but be impressed. It is truly remarkable and admirable. All that remains is to offer congratulations and with a smile wish that you do not put your pen down for long – said prof. dr hab. inż. Marek Opielak, Rector of WSEI University, opening Tuesday’s ceremony. He also recalled her ties with Lublin – the fact that she received her education in psychology at the Catholic University of Lublin.

Currently, prof. dr hab. Maria Ryś is a professor at Vizja University in Warsaw. She specializes in the field of psychology of marriage and family, on which she has authored numerous publications and books, and organized symposia.

– The academic work of Professor leaves a lasting mark on shaping and educating successive generations of psychologists, and her involvement in cooperation with various universities, therapeutic institutions, and social organizations has contributed to the creation of a modern and effective model of psychological support in schools – emphasized dr hab. Katarzyna Markiewicz, prof. at WSEI University, during her laudation.

And she added – What distinguishes Professor from other outstanding scholars is her unwavering empathy, humanistic approach to research, and the ability to translate theory into practical actions that support people in their everyday reality. You inspire everyone who has had the honor to work with you – concluded prof. Markiewicz.

Prof. Maria Ryś was visibly moved – I am deeply touched and extremely grateful for this exceptional distinction, it will now be difficult for me to give the lecture – she said to the large audience. She also thanked the Rector of Vizja University who accompanied her, as well as her friends and family.

She also referred to the words of the Rector of WSEI University – The Rector mentioned the 25th anniversary of the university, so I too will reach into the past. Well, 20 years ago, while working as an advisor in the ministry and preparing textbooks for children and youth, one of my colleagues brought a document that made a huge impression on all of us. It was a report conducted in one of the voivodeships and concerned young people. For the report, 1000 high school students were randomly selected. The question was: “Who can you count on in a difficult life situation?” 65% indicated their mother, and only 32% their father. That was one of my first scientific studies, studies on the appreciation of the father's role and an attempt to make fathers themselves appreciate their role – told prof. dr hab. Maria Ryś.

In her lecture, she spoke about the cooperation between family and school in building a child's self-worth as the foundation of their motivation for development, about the canons of love and the roots that young people need.

At the end, she addressed all those gathered – I wish that everyone who meets you will believe they have encountered great hope – she concluded.

Her distinction and words were met with a standing ovation from the entire hall.
