Cooperation in joint educational initiatives, professional training, the development and implementation of European projects – including the Erasmus+ Programme academic collaboration, organizing conferences and training sessions, exchange of staff, technical experts and trainers, sharing best practices and experiences, and mutual access to research outcomes – these are just a few of the many provisions included in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the City of Lublin, the City of Rome, and WSEI University.
The agreement was signed on Friday, May 30, at the headquarters of WSEI University, on the final day of Erasmus Week - an event hosted by the University and attended by representatives of the City of Rome.
The Memorandum was signed by:
Stefano Carta, Director of Department VII of the Metropolitan City of Rome
Daniele Parrucci, Delegate of the City of Rome for Vocational Education, Sports and Schooling, and for the European Alliance for Apprenticeships
Mariusz Banach, Deputy Mayor of Lublin for Education
Teresa Bogacka, President of WSEI University
Dr. Tomasz Wołowiec, Professor at WSEI University, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation
- We are expanding our international cooperation because it enhances development opportunities for both our staff and students. This brings tangible benefits. Our university thrives, among others, thanks to access to European and other external funding sources - emphasized Teresa Bogacka, President of WSEI University.
Daniele Parrucci, Delegate of the City of Rome, expressed gratitude for the invitation and commented: - Over the past three years, we’ve made significant investments in education and vocational training. We’ve signed important agreements with companies such as Leonardo, Bulgari, and Confindustria, as well as stakeholders in the ICT sector. Our goal is to develop educational programs that respond to labor market needs.
He also highlighted a special educational program for prisoners implemented by the City of Rome: - It’s a second chance initiative for people at risk of social exclusion. This program was inspired by Pope Francis and gifted by the Mayor of Rome to the Pope. Just two days ago, we met with the new Pope, who is very interested in continuing Pope Francis’s legacy. This remains high on our agenda. We want to expand our educational offerings through collaboration with the City of Lublin and WSEI University, as this aligns with our policies. We can support each other.
Mariusz Sagan, Director of the Strategy and Investor Services Department at Lublin City Hall, also commented on the signing of the Memorandum, emphasizing the long term economic cooperation with Rome: - I’m referring to foreign investments by aerospace companies from Rome and its surrounding region in Lublin, as well as the Lublin - Rome flight connection.
Regarding the Memorandum, he outlined several key areas of cooperation: - First, vocational education, including experience exchange and student and youth mobility - will be implemented by WSEI University in partnership with local schools. I believe these initiatives will begin within a few months and will address labor market needs in both Rome and Lublin.
The second major area is mobility, particularly public transport, and the exchange of experience and projects in this field. Rome brings vast expertise as a metropolitan city, while Lublin is already implementing hydrogen-powered buses.
He concluded optimistically: And beyond that? The sky is the limit - whether in academia, investment, or smart city development.
